Video work of "WORDS ARE UNRELIABLE" Project with Silke Dettmers

In the process of the interview, it is a problem that many people did not want to show their face in the video, so I tried again and again and asked people in the street, gallery, shopping centre and so on. Finally, I edited 7 persons’ videos from almost 20 persons’ interviews.

Through the work, I got a lot of interesting answers. I found that “Jessica” is not only a name of a person, it could be a kind of lifestyle, an interest, a pet or an important person, just anything or anybody that make you feel safe in your life.

Bath

颇有期待的巨石阵并没有想象中的气势，只能远远的观望。反而这家巴斯历史最悠久的建筑中，我们找到了在巴斯最值得记忆的点，就是SALLY LUNNS的下午茶，看似粗糙的外表下，美到无法抗拒的味道。



"WORDS ARE UNRELIABLE" Project with Silke Dettmers

This was an idea about recording the change of the words in the rain by a series of images. It can be seen that the words changed from clear to vague gradually, which refers to the unreliable words. In fact, it was an interesting test of a momentary inspiration on a rainy day, which was fun to record and create meaning.

Cambridge

剑桥，一个对中国人来说很有情节的地方。因为徐志摩，那一片云彩，那一座叹息桥，那一块刻着这首诗的石碑，那一抹挥手告别，都显得这么有意味。这个小镇的人们，悠闲的生活，和伦敦有着完全不同的步调，到处也都迷茫着书卷气。

Words are Unreliable

This was a piese of test related the "Words are Unreliable" Project. I printed the words and hollowed out the words. Then used the lights to make a shadow on the wall. As you see, the real words just one sentence, but the shadow are two sentences. This is the change of words I want to show.

Windsor Castle

去到温莎城堡，这是个美丽的小到不能再小的小镇，虽然城堡内不能拍照，但是那些古油画以及装饰品让人足够惊叹，富丽堂皇的宫殿也着实让生活在东方文化下的我们享受了一次视觉上的饕餮大餐。站在颓废的小车站等待远方的火车声，夕阳下一切都意犹未尽，总觉得这是一个会再回来的地方。

Beauty is not necessarily perfect```

Today, we saw three exhibitions at the V&A Museum and carried on the hands-on project`````Even through i saw the "power of making" and "postmodernism" 3 times, I sitll like those shows because of the fantastic works. Haha```this picture do not relate to the exhibitions, but i like the image, it's not perfect but beautiful`````

London Art Fair

This Art Fair is a little bit commercial, there are a lot of galleries from all over the word for selling and exhibiting their collection of artists' works. I do not like those kind of form very much, but there still have some interesting works. As the first photo, this is a sad sheep which is created as a real person who is crying. The sculpture refers to the slaughter and harm of animals. As we know, people widely use animal's fur and feather to product shoes, coat and other productions, which are really really cruel, violent and inhuman to the animals.

Here, I am interested in the mirror effect by the installation which will be helpful to my project.

This is a large complex installation that actually like a machine for drawing. People can ask the stuff to handle the machine to draw a abstract picture for them, which is really interesting, especially for children.

Sketch and original Idea of video work - Words are unreliable

My original idea was to ask defferent people “who is your Jessica?” in different place by different ways, such as posting the question to a random postcode, asking strongers, or interviewing appointed person.

Show window design of Selfridge

The show window design of Selfridge was really fun and amazing that showed a strong visual language by using funny illustration and strong colors. I am interested in those kinds of show window design, such as the shopping windows in Selfridge and Harrods.

"WORDS ARE UNRELIABLE" Project with Silke Dettmers

Xu Bing said that words are unreliable, and this is also our first project for the ma course. We had an amazing workshop by Silke Dettmers last week. In the class, she gave us a sentence "You make me feel so safe, Jessica", and showed some examples related to how the words exchange and how unreliable words are. Through the discussion with Silke, she gave me a lot of suggestions which are very useful for me to extend my ideas. She let me to run the idea, just do it and don't be hesitant.




I started my interview today. I tried my best to find suited people to ask my questions,  but the process was very very difficult than my expectation. Because a lot of people accept to answer questions but don't like to be taken vedio. Even through the process was a little bit difficult,  I still got some shot records about some interviewees' spontaneous answer.  In a word, this is my first vedio and it's also the first project in london. I felt very interesting and stimulating today, and ths...tobias and zoe````my dear friends```

Brighton

在Brighton的海滩边，风里夹着浓浓的海腥味，海天相接的美景让眼睛不舍得离开。美美的素食外表颇为精致，味道也非常有层次，现在还是很想念这家餐厅。

a new start at camberwell

I have already used blog to record my study and life for more than 5 years, but I never use english to write my blog. So I believe there will be a new start for the amazing MA course study, and I also want to record all of my thinking ideas,  working processes and frame of mind in the life in this blog.
